Our Story

Cake Creations began as a one woman bakery many years ago. It was passed on through the family and has evolved into a partnership between friends. As friends are the family you choose, we still think of ourselves as a small family business. Many a family member has washed a pan or iced a cupcake between these walls through the years. We are happy to have been a place where the women of our family, and a few of the men, could share our passion before they found their individual callings. As we move into our new identity as a boutique bakery we are now a party of two. Friends that share a love for cake decorating, sarcasm and sass.

I’m Beth, “the cake lady”. I worked my way through the world of cake decorating, from a sixteen year old dish washer, to the owner of Cake Creations. Sure, there was a college degree and the requisite jobs sprinkled in. Somehow I always came home to the bakery. It was there I was at ease and truly found myself. Even as a teen, I would spend my Sundays scrubbing and cleaning the shop because I loved being there so much. There was no glamour in my role, I just loved the feeling I had being in that space. As I aged, I polished my skill through practice. My training is nothing more than growing up learning the ins and outs one mistake at a time. I mastered the art of hot knifing cakes one “freezer cake” at a time. As a lefty learning from a right handed guru, I had to adapt every aspect of what we do. Youthful exuberance and fierce dedication made me the decorator I am today. I discovered this creative outlet was my passion.

I’m Jersey, “the other cake person”. Food has been ingrained in me since I was a child. It all started with my dad…he had a passion for food. He worked in the food industry beginning as a young teen…eventually owning several deli/restaurants in New Jersey. Baking was his main specialty. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my dad’s East Coast style bagels, onion rolls and challah. I like to think he passed some of his talent down to me.

I started cake decorating in 2010. I took courses at the French Pastry School in Chicago… I read books…watched DVD’s and scoured the internet for decorating resources. The old adage “practice makes perfect” had never been so true. While I’m definitely not perfect, far from it, I was able to learn mostly by trial and error. Learning is a continual progression…we strive to figure out new techniques and designs, to bring you exciting concepts.

Baking, pastry arts and cake design will always be my passion. It’s a part of who I am. It’s gives me a contradictory notion of calmness and excitement. We have many great customers who let us do our thing, and we are grateful for each and every one of them. We will continue to put our heart and soul into making your celebrations special and delicious - one cake at a time.

“Families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.”
